Special Guest Session of the Industrial Engineering English Club: “Recent trends in warehousing”.

Guest Speaker: Luis Felipe Cardona Olarte

Luis Felipe Cardona Olarte is a Research Assistant at the Logistics and Distribution Institute at University of Louisville, where he is completing his PhD studies in Industrial Engineering.  He is a Colombian Fulbright scholar. M.Eng. and B.E. in Industrial Engineering at Universidad Icesi, Cali, Colombia. His research interests focus on warehousing and distribution.

The current growth of e-commerce around the world is challenging companies to offer a more diverse set of products and provide fast and free shipping. From 1,000 skus companies are moving to have 10,000 and from offering 2-week delivery times, companies are being pressure to offer 2-day free shipping and even in some cities and special products one-hour delivery.
